It was just another night in Gabi and Lance’s home, until it wasn’t. Their son wet the bed, and as they stripped the sheets, they faced a dilemma – how do you properly clean a child’s mattress?
Most parents rely on mattress protectors, but traditional protectors are often made with non-breathable laminated materials which trap heat, making sleep uncomfortable for many children.
As parents, they knew this was a real problem. But as fourth-generation mattress makers, they also knew they could solve it.
And the result is Teddy Junior – a kids’ mattress designed with both children and parents in mind.
The modern kids’ mattress
Unlike traditional mattresses, Teddy Junior features a removable, washable cover, so accidents don’t lead to long-term damage. Beneath that is a waterproof–yet–breathable layer made from Evolon fabric, a German-engineered material that repels moisture while allowing airflow, preventing overheating.
But they didn’t stop there. Teddy Junior is also double-sided, with a firmer surface to support younger children’s spinal development, and a medium-firm side for older kids needing a little more pressure relief. One children’s mattress, built to adapt through childhood.
The Montessori-inspired frame
The teddyDen bed frame, inspired by Montessori sleep principles, encourages children to develop confidence and independence in their own sleep environment.
The teddyDen starts low to the ground (4cm high), making it easy for young children to climb in and out of bed safely.
But unlike most floor beds, it doesn’t have to be replaced as they grow. Instead, the frame can be flipped over to sit 23cm off the ground, allowing for additional storage space, while still maintaining a child-friendly design for “bigger kids”.
