Do you often catch your little one in the backyard practising their handstands or cartwheels? Or is your little bub always getting themselves into a twist (literally)? Well it might be time for them to join gymnastics classes! The benefits of these classes include increased strength, flexibility, co-ordination, listening skills, and confidence. Below is a list of some of the best gymnastics classes within the greater Auckland region. So, what are you waiting for?
Do you want to be there to encourage your child through fun and safe gymnastics play? With a mixture of structured and guided play, children 18-months to 4-years-old can develop and learn important life skills. Your toddler will be challenged by qualified instructors to grow into an independent and confident mover. Classes are on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at different times (depending on numbers) at $110 for 10 weeks. These classes are located in St. Johns.
Do you want your child to do fun gymnastics that also enhances motor, listening, and social skills? Yes please! This 45-minute class uses large apparatus, trampolines, bars, mats, beams, and small apparatus, as well as rhythmic activities. There are Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday classes from 10:30 – 11:15am for movers and groovers aged 18-months to 3-years-old for $112.50. Or for tiny tots (aged 3- to 5-years-old) there are classes on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, at varying times, for $126.
If your little bub won’t stop moving and is always getting themselves into a twist (literally), then it could be a good idea to enrol them in a acrobatics class. This class uses many forms of dance and gymnastics to teach 2- to 4-year-olds flexibility, strength, balancing, limbering and tumbling, in a safe and effective way. This class is on Saturday at Interfusion Dance Studio 2 at Howick. The cost is $120 for 10 sessions.
Recreational Rhythmic Gymnastics Classes
Does your child want to learn rhythmic gymnastics and dance skills, as well as having fun with different equipment? Then this class may be for them! Recreational Rhythmic Gymnastics Classes work to develop confidence, manipulation skills, and teach rhythm for beginner and intermediate gymnasts aged 5- to 9-years-old. Classes are Tuesdays at 4.30-5.30pm at Farm cove, or Thursdays at 5-6pm in Somerville. The cost is $120 per term.
This class aims to introduce children to gymnastics in a fun and creative way. If your child has their sights set on the stars, then there is also an opportunity to compete at local events. Classes are Mondays at 4.15-5pm for kids aged between 5- to 7-years-old, and Tuesdays at 3.30-4.15pm for kids aged 6- to 10-years-old. The cost per term is $125.
If your little one has been doing recreational gymnastics for a while and wants to take it a step further, then why not let them compete at local and national events? There are three different categories athletes can compete in, depending on commitment, skill and ability. Competitive Aerobix offers intermediate, senior and open classes, as well as Development and Conditioning classes, for kids of all ages. The cost varies, depending on hours spent on the equipment each week.
We have a range of gymnastic classes at many different locations on our Tots to Teens mall site for kids of all ages. So, take a look and see what these gymnastics classes have to offer your little bouncy bunny!
