Cheese toasties are a classic kiwi lunch. Perfect for your teenager to make themselves and so easy that they won’t leave a million dishes.
Bread (we love Vogels)
1 1/2 cups of Cheddar cheese, grated
1 tablespoon mustard (optional)
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)
1 teaspoon mayo
1 teaspoon finely diced onion
Preheat the oven. Butter one side of two slices of bread and toast them under the grill until brown. Flip them over onto an oven tray.
Mix the remaining ingredients and spread them onto the bread. Return them to the oven and cook for a couple of minutes until puffed, browned and bubbly.
Add in bacon, ham or some herbs to the cheese mixture for extra flavour.
