I used to think iPad keyboard cases were just… fine. Some came in cute colours, but most were nothing to write home about – good for the odd quick reply or a shopping list, not exactly something I’d voluntarily rely on to get things done. Then I came across the Logitech Flip Folio, and our family iPad is suddenly getting a whole lot more action.
SMART, SLIM, AND SURPRISINGLY FUNCTIONAL
At first glance, it’s a sleek, lightweight cover that magnetically snaps onto your iPad. But hidden inside is a full-sized Bluetooth keyboard that can be stowed away when you’re not using it. No awkward bulk, just smart design that opens into an adjustable stand and folds up cleanly when you’re done.
The case, or the multi-angle kickstand as it’s officially known, bends to help you prop up the iPad at different angles, depending on what you’re doing. Whether you’re watching something, sketching, or typing, it adapts with you.
You also get proper front-and-back protection, plus all the practical perks you’d expect from a real keyboard: shortcut keys, multi-device pairing, and some satisfyingly clicky keys that sound and feel better than expected.
TYPING THAT FEELS GOOD
The keyboard specifically caught me off guard – it feels really good. Like, better-than-some-laptops good. For the size, weight and convenience of it, I expected flimsy, flat keys with zero feedback, but this one’s genuinely a joy to type on. In fact, I wrote this whole review using it! And probably could 100 times over with the key’s impressive two-year battery life.
It also plays nicely with the iPad. The keyboard quickly connects via Bluetooth (and can with multiple devices), and the familiar shortcut keys made it feel like second nature to switch from my work MacBook – no awkward re-learning curve just seamless connectivity.
FOUR NO-FUSS MODES
- Work Mode: Set the screen at your ideal angle, pop the keyboard in front, and type away. It’s great for replying to emails, editing documents, or finishing last minute essays.
- Sketch Mode: Collapse the screen down to draw or take notes. You can keep the keyboard nearby or off to the side depending on what you’re working on.
- Binge-Watch Mode: Prop the screen up hands-free, get comfy, and press play. If you’re keeping the iPad at a healthy distance, you could use the detachable keyboard as a remote.
- Read Mode: Tuck the keyboard away and flip the cover back to comfortably read books, articles, or catch up on schoolwork.
A TEEN’S DREAM TOOL
If you’ve got a teen who leans creative – think digital art, fancy note-taking, animation, fashion design, the works – this setup is ideal. It essentially turns your iPad into a mini laptop, but keeps all the perks that make the iPad great: the touchscreen, drawing capabilities (with the Apple Pencil or Logitech Crayon), and portability.
It works everywhere. Bed, couch, desk, dining table, car… we’ve tested them all. The adjustable angles and fast setup mean you can go from watching videos to finishing off homework before mum comes in to check that you are, in fact, doing it.
Bonus: the case isn’t bulky and fits easily in a school bag (see comparison against MacBook below).
THE VERDICT: YES. JUST YES.
If your iPad is your all-in-one – calendar, to-do list, notepad, gaming device, creative studio, e-book reader, Netflix buddy – the Logitech Flip Folio is the upgrade it deserves. It’s functional, well-designed, and makes the iPad genuinely more useful for work and play.
It comes in both 11- and 13-inch sizes—we’ve got the 11-inch iPad, and it suits our needs perfectly, especially when we’re looking for a break from lugging around a big laptop.
